Marv Stipe
Chico, Marv’s oldest son, was raised in the cattle business and grew up immersed in the ranching way of life. From an early age, he could be found horseback, driving the feed truck, and following his dad’s lead every chance he got. Learning by example, Chico developed the same strong work ethic and deep respect for the land and livestock that define the Stipe family tradition.
In recent years, Chico has stepped into a larger role, working closely alongside Marv and helping strengthen the foundation of Stipe Charolais. He shares the same passion for producing quality cattle and is committed to continuing the legacy built by his grandfather and father. Through his involvement, Chico has built valuable connections within the Charolais community and is focused on growing the Stipe name even further.
You’ll often find Chico out on the ranch with his three daughters Swayze, Scottie, and Stevie never far from his side, learning the lifestyle just as he once did.
Marv Stipe is a dedicated second-generation Charolais breeder who proudly carries on the Stipe Charolais legacy established by his father, Chuck Stipe. Having worked side by side with his dad from a young age, Marv learned not only the fundamentals of ranching but also the values of hard work, integrity, and a deep commitment to producing quality cattle. When Chuck passed away, Marv stepped forward to take ownership and operation of the ranch, determined to honor the strong foundation his father built while continuing to move the program forward.
If you know Marv, you know ranching isn’t just his livelihood, it’s his passion. He can be found out on the ranch every single day, checking cattle, overseeing operations, and ensuring that the Stipe Charolais name remains synonymous with quality and consistency. His hands-on approach and unwavering work ethic are evident in every aspect of the operation.
Today, Marv works closely with his sons, Chico and Stetson, passing down the knowledge and experience that were once passed down to him. Together, they continue to strengthen the program and build for the future, keeping the family tradition alive.
Above all, Marv is a proud family man. He has been blessed with four children, Shilani, Chico, Derika, and Stetson along with many grandchildren who keep him young and remind him why preserving the ranching legacy matters so much. For Marv, family and ranching go hand in hand, and both remain at the heart of everything he does.

Marv’s youngest son, Stetson, has a true passion for farming and plays a vital role in keeping the ranch operating day in and day out. You’ll most often find him in the seat of a tractor, running equipment and handling whatever job needs to be done. Haying season is his favorite time of year, and he can spend countless hours in the field, making sure everything is put up just right.Beyond the fields, Stetson is the ranch’s go-to mechanic. He keeps things running smoothly by fixing the inevitable breakdowns that come with ranch life. Whether it’s a tractor, truck, or piece of hay equipment, he has the skills and determination to get it back in working order.A true Montana boy at heart, Stetson also enjoys spending time outdoors. When he’s not in the tractor, you might find him at the river fishing or in the mountains during the winter, running his hounds in pursuit of mountain lions. No matter the season, though, he’s always ready to head back to the ranch and get to work.
